PHILADELPHIA (UCFAthletics.com) - With his squad set to make its debut in the NIT this evening, junior forward Keith Clanton of the UCF men's basketball team earned a spot on the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 11 First Team Wednesday. Clanton was one of five players, all from Conference USA, to garner NABC All-District 11 First Team recognition.
Clanton is averaging a team-high 14.6 points and 8.1 rebounds for the Knights, and also paces the squad in blocks per game at 1.8. The former Orlando Christian Prep star has led UCF in points 16 times and has 27 double-digit scoring performances. In C-USA play, he averaged 2.0 blocks an outing to lead the conference.
In January, Clanton became UCF's all-time leader in blocked shots and now has 164 swats. During the regular season, he also scored his 1,000th career point. Clanton currently ranks 11th in program history with 1,248 points.
Clanton and the Knights (22-10) will face host Drexel in the NIT first round Wednesday in Philadelphia. The game will be available online on ESPN3, and will start at 7:15 p.m.
Last week, Clanton was selected to the All-C-USA First Team and the league's all-defensive squad.
Clanton was joined on the all-district team by Will Barton of Memphis, Cameron Moore of UAB, Jordan Clarkson of Tulsa and DeAndre Kane of Marshall. Coaches from the 12 C-USA programs selected the all-district squads.
Clanton is the first Knight to receive NABC All-District honors since Jermaine Taylor was recognized in 2008-09.
