ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team eased past Army Monday, posting a 6-1 victory at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Knights claimed the doubles point to open the contest and then won five of six singles matches.
UCF improved to 5-7 with the victory. Army moved to 7-7 following the defeat.
The match was originally scheduled for Sunday, but was postponed due to rain. In doubles play, Erik Brunskog joined Mitch Thams for an 8-6 win at No. 2 over Alex Van Velzer and Peter Sienko. At No. 3, Matthew Gladstone and Mario Samson rolled past Alex Holland and Rommel Verano, 8-3.
In singles competition, Brunskog, Thams, Samson and Joe Delinks all swept their opponents. Gladstone also recorded a singles win.
UCF was playing the fourth contest of an eight-match homestand.
The Knights will return to action Thursday, hosting Indiana at 2 p.m.
