ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF may be getting ready to kick off the 2012 spring season March 13, but three former Knights also are busy preparing for their upcoming Arena Football League seasons with the Milwaukee Mustangs. Offensive lineman Abre Leggins, defensive lineman Travis Timmons and wide receiver Sergio Joachim have joined forces in Milwaukee and will get the 2012 campaign underway March 17 at Arizona.

Meanwhile, a 2008 All-American and 2005 Freshman All-American, defensive back and returner Joe Burnett signed with the AFL's Jacksonville Sharks in Sept. 2011 but then moved up to the Canadian Football League by signing with the Edmonton Eskimos. Edmonton is set to start its season June 15 at Calgary. Burnett was ranked in the top-10 in the nation in both kickoff returns and punt returns as a senior, while he also finished his four-year career as the Knights' all-time record holder with 16 interceptions, three punt returns for a touchdown and 1,304 punt-return yards. He was selected in the NFL Draft by Pittsburgh and spent the 2009-10 seasons with the Steelers.

A receiver for the Knights from 2003-07, Joachim totaled 19 receptions for 236 yards as a senior during UCF's Conference USA Championship season. He signed a free-agent deal with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008, and spent time with the AFL's Orlando Predators in last year.

Timmons helped anchor the UCF defensive line beginning in his true-freshman campaign in 2006. In 45 career games, he amassed 51 tackles with 3.5 sacks. Timmons registered 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks as a sophomore in 2007, and appeared in two bowls for the Knights (2007 AutoZone Liberty Bowl and the 2009 St. Petersburg Bowl).

Leggins arrived at UCF following two years at Michigan State, and proceeded to play in 24 games on the Knights' offensive line from 2009-10. As a senior in 2010, he started 11 games en route to helping UCF claim the C-USA crown as well as a victory in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl over Georgia.
