ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After a stellar 5-0 record on the field last week that included wins over in-state foes USF and Bethune-Cookman, the UCF baseball team has moved up in the national rankings once more Monday.
The Knights (10-2) find themselves up one spot to No. 18 in the Baseball America rankings, and entered the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' Poll at No. 24. UCF has appeared in each Baseball America poll since its No. 21 preseason ranking, and joins Rice as the only two teams in Conference USA to appear in both polls.
Also on Monday, the Knights jumped up five spots to No. 21 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll and snuck into the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper rankings for the first time at No. 30.
The highest ranking in program history for UCF came in 2001 at No. 7 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper polls.
UCF welcomes No. 8 Florida State to Orlando for the first time since 1988 with the two teams playing a midweek series on Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. each day. Both games can be heard live on 740-AM The Game while Wednesday's matchup will be broadcast live on Bright House Sports Network.
