ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team is scheduled for two matches over the weekend as Memphis and Davidson are both set to visit the UCF Tennis Complex. Play begins Friday against Conference USA opponent Memphis (7-2) and wraps up Sunday in a match against Davidson (3-4). Both matches will begin at 11 a.m. and admission is free.
Memphis enters the weekend holding a 3-2 record on the road and is 1-0 against C-USA opponents. Freshmen Connor Glennon and David O'Leary lead the Tigers with a combined 15 wins. O'Leary is riding an eight-match winning streak to open the spring season, while Glennon is 7-1.
For Davidson, the Wildcats will travel to Georgia Southern on Saturday before visiting the Knights on Sunday. The team is still looking for its first road win while holding an 0-2 record away from home. Freshman Nicky Kunz leads the team with a 5-2 record in singles and is on a five-match winning streak. In doubles, the Wildcats own a 14-5 record with two pairs accounting for 10 of the victories. Calum Gee and Joe Schafer are 5-1 together at the No. 1 position while Connor Evins and Chris Mark are 5-0 while playing all but one match at No. 3.
The Knights (3-5) come into the weekend with a 2-2 record at their home courts while holding an 0-1 record against C-USA opponents. The strength of the team has been its performance in doubles. Overall the Knights are 30-30 in doubles play, but are lead by the pairing of junior Juan Bolona (Miami, Fla.) and sophomore Matthew Gladstone (Surfside, Fla.). The pair is 6-0 in the spring while playing most of its matches from the No. 3 position.
