ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - In its third tournament of the 2012 campaign, the UCF women's golf team heads to Hilton Head, S.C., to compete in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The inaugural three-day tournament begins Friday at the par-71 Long Cove Club.

Singer/songwriter Darius Rucker, who is a South Carolina graduate, is currently an award-winning country artist. He is also well known for his time as the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish.

The No. 40 Knights are one of 15 teams in the competition, including six top-25 teams: No. 2 Alabama, No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 9 Georgia, No. 10 North Carolina, No. 17 Tennessee and No. 24 Texas.

Teeing up for UCF on the challenging 6,160-yard course at No. 1 is Katie Mitchell (Fernandina Beach, Fla.), No. 2 Monifa Sealy (Glencoe, Trinidad and Tobago), No. 3 Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla), No. 4 Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) and No. 5 Robyn Doig (Seaforth, Ontario).

Play will begin on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 at 8:30 a.m. on holes one and 10, while the teams will tee off in the final round on Sunday, March 4 at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.

At the Central District Invitational last week, the Knights shot 899 (+35) overall finishing the tournament in ninth. Mitchell finished 2-over (218), ending the competition tied for sixth. It was the fifth top-20 finish of her young career as she was rewarded with the Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week for the second time in 2011-12.
