ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After leading the UCF women's golf team in the ultra-competitive Central District Invitational, freshman Katie Mitchell (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) has been named Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week. Mitchell tied for sixth overall (+2) in a field that featured 19 ranked golfers.

This is the second-career weekly honor for Mitchell who has recorded five top-20 finishes in the first six events of her UCF tenure. The rookie has also placed in the top 10 of three events in 2011-12.

In a field that featured 11 top-50 teams, Mitchell led the Knights to a ninth-place finish after carding seven birdies on the par-72 course at River Wilderness Golf Club in Parrish. She ended the two-day, three-round tournament shooting 2-over (218).

The No. 40 Knights will return to action March 1 when they head to Hilton Head, S.C., for the Darius Rucker Invitational.
