PARRISH, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf, led by freshman Katie Mitchell's (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) 1-over 73, finished ninth in the loaded field of 11 top-50 teams at the Central District Invitational at River Wilderness Golf Club. It was Mitchell's fifth top-20 individual finish of the season.
No. 44 TCU won the event with a +18 882 as the top-four-finishers were all separated by just a stroke.
For the two-day tournament, the No. 40 Knights shot 35-over (899) on the challenging 6,218 par-72 course.
Mitchell led the squad for the second-straight day, notching birdies on the par-5 eighth and par-4 13th to finish at 2-over (218) for the tournament. She has now placed in the top 10 of three events just six contests into her UCF career.
Fellow rookie Monifa Sealy (Glencoe, Trinidad and Tobago) bounced back in a big way in the third round, shooting eight strokes lower than the second with a 2-over 74. She ended the two-day competition tied for 31st with a 12-over 228.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) carded a birdie on the par-4 13th and finished the contest tied for 42nd. Junior Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) and freshman Robyn Doig (Seaforth, Ontario) ended the tournament tied for 47th and 59th, respectively.
The Knights will return to action March 1 when they travel to Hilton Head, S.C. for the Darius Rucker Invitational hosted by South Carolina.
