ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After recording a strong showing at UCF's first event of the spring, UCF sophomore Ricardo Gouveia (Almancil, Portugal) was selected as the Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week Wednesday. Competing in a tournament that featured nine of the top-40 ranked teams in the country, Gouveia tied for sixth at the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville.
He completed the two-day tournament at 214 (+4), helping the Knights finish fourth out of 14 teams. Gouveia opened the tournament at 1-over 71 and then carded a 70 in the second round. The top-10 finish was the third of the season for Gouveia.
The C-USA weekly honor is the second of the year for the sophomore.
The Knights, who are listed at No. 16 in the Golfstat NCAA Head-to-Head Standings, will return to action on Sunday when play begins at the John Hayt Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach.
