ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Their National Championships may be over, but the hard-working UCF spirit squad takes no time to relax. Last month the team placed third in the nation at the 2012 National Cheerleading Championship, where they competed against teams like Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Memphis and Kentucky. Now, as they head toward the end of the basketball regular season and set their sights on the possibility of a postseason, the team is focused on entertaining fans at games and representing this great university in the Central Florida community.

On Monday, Feb. 13, the team electrified a large crowd at the Orlando Magic half-time. This was the spirit squad's first performance at the new Amway Center this year and the first time that the team had been back since UCF beat the Florida Gators in 2010-11 at the Amway.

The squad, was excited to have the opportunity to showcase a high-flying joint performance including both cheer and dance teams. According to senior Jenna Kolby, "As a senior, I looked forward to my last Magic performance. When the lockout started in the fall, I wasn't sure what we were going to do. Thankfully everything worked out great!" UCF's performance seemed to be just what the Magic needed, when they stepped it up in the second half of the game to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 102-89.

This will not be the last exciting performance by our spirit team this year. The team was invited to perform at the 2012 NBA All-Star Jam on Feb. 22 at the Orange County Convention Center. Both the UCF cheer and dance teams look forward to representing the University in front of fans from across the nation at one of the premier events in professional sports.
