NEW ORLEANS, La. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team fell 4-0 to Tulane Sunday, as play was moved indoors from the Goldring Tennis Center to the Hilton Indoor Tennis Courts due to poor weather conditions.
The Knights (2-3), faced a tough defeat by the Green Wave (4-3) as junior Jorge Blasco (Alicante, Spain) fell 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 at the top position to No. 76 Idan Mark in the team's first battle against a Conference USA opponent.
Junior Mario Samson (Miami, Fla.) suffered his first loss of the season in doubles play while coupled with senior Joe Delinks (Falsmouth, Mass.). The pairing fell 9-7 at the No. 2 position to Rodrigo Rappaccioli and Shaye Wali.
Sophomore Matthew Gladstone (Surfside, Fla.) and junior Juan Bolona (Miami, Fla.) were the only Knights to post a win as the pair defeated Adam Bernstein and Takuma Ohashi 8-2 at the No. 3 position in doubles.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, Feb. 17 to face North Florida at the UCF Tennis Complex. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. and admission is free.
