A.J. Rompza Selected as C-USA Player of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Senior guard A.J. Rompza (Chicago, Ill.) was selected as the Conference USA Men's Basketball Player of the Week Monday after leading UCF to a pair of league victories. Rompza averaged 13.5 points, 6.5 assists, 5.0 steals and 4.0 rebounds in wins over Tulane and host East Carolina.

He shot a blistering 76.9 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from 3-point range.

In UCF's victory at East Carolina on Saturday, Rompza logged 39 minutes and totaled 16 points, nine assists with only one turnover and five steals. The 5-foot-9 point guard also grabbed seven rebounds. He shot 6-of-8 from the floor vs. the Pirates and also made 3-of-4 triples. On Wednesday, he scored 11 points to go with five steals and four assists in a win over visiting Tulane. He made 4-of-5 shots from the floor and hit all three of his 3-point attempts against the Green Wave.

This is Rompza's first career C-USA Player of the Week honor. Rompza and the Knights will return to action Wednesday, hosting Houston at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena.
