NEW ORLEANS, La. (UCFAthletics.com) - A slow start to the second half and foul trouble plagued the UCF women's basketball team in its 64-52 loss to Tulane at Fogelman Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Junior guard Gevenia Carter led the Knights with a game-high 16 points, and Kayli Keough added 10 points and seven rebounds. Senior Aisha Patrick fell two points shy of a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Knights (6-8, 1-1 C-USA) converted three field goals in the first 14 minutes of the second half but managed to keep the game within reach thanks to a 9-of-10 performance at the free throw line.
The Green Wave (12-3, 1-1 C-USA) did not start to pull away until midway through the second period when they rolled on a 13-2 run to take their largest lead, 58-37, with 6:11 to go. Tulane also capitalized at the free throw line, sinking 15-of-21 in the second half.
UCF responded with an 11-3 run of their own, but the inspired play came simply too late to pull off a comeback.
UCF hits the road again Thursday when the Knights face UAB at 8 p.m. eastern. The IMG Sports Network will broadcast all of UCF's games live on UCFAthletics.com with a subscription plan. Scott Adams will provide the play-by-play. Live stats are also available via UCFAthletics.com.
