EL PASO, Texas (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team could not derail UTEP's conference-best win streak as the Miners rolled to their ninth-straight victory with a 67-38 decision at the Don Haskins Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Knights (9-11, 4-4 C-USA) had no answer for the Miners' (19-2, 8-0 C-USA) prowess from three-point range where they sank 8-of-15 (53.3 percent) for the day.

Sophomore forward Erika Jones led UCF with 10 points while senior Aisha Patrick added four points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Patrick cracked into UCF's top-10 scoring record list as she bumped her career total to 1,067 points. True to form, she joined the ranks by stealing the ball and finishing with a coast-to-coast layup in the first four minutes of play.

Jenzel Nash opened the game with a three-pointer to spur the Miners on an 11-2 run, but the Knights regrouped after head coach Joi Williams called a timeout. They cut the deficit to a single possession, 11-9, when Jones capitalized on an and-one play at 14:25.

However, Nash and Gloria Brown sank back-to-back threes to ignite the Miners on another 16-2 run, which allowed them to cruise into halftime with a 33-18 edge over the Knights.

Freshman Andrea Hines opened up the second half with a three-point play, but the Miners would not relinquish their hold on the tempo of the game. Briana Green drilled consecutive three-pointers before hitting a jumper at the free throw line to put the Miners up by 20 points, 45-25, and the Knights could never recover.

UCF returns to Orlando on Thursday when the Knights host Tulsa at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com. On gameday, tickets for the contest will be available at the UCF Arena box office. All UCF students are admitted free with a valid school ID.
