TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - In the dual-match opener of the 2012 season for both teams, the UCF women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 17 Florida State Saturday in Tallahassee.
Doubles kick-started the afternoon where the combination of Taylor Dubins and Andrea Yacaman topped Leyla Erkan and Casey Simmons at the No. 3 position. However the Seminoles secured victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions for the early 1-0 lead.
Dubins carried her momentum into singles play where she breezed past Sheena Sanil in the No. 5 spot, 6-1, 6-1. The Knights almost picked up another point at No. 6, but Allison Hodges lost a close 7-6, 7-5 decision to Simmons.
