ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF's women's tennis team began its spring schedule last weekend with the UCF Invitational, and will now open up the dual-match season with a trip to No. 17 Florida State Saturday at 12 p.m. The Knights also are slated to take on Florida A&M as well, Sunday at 11 a.m.
UCF has an entertaining start to its season as it also will travel to Baylor for the ITA Kickoff Weekend Jan. 28-29, and Florida Feb. 1. The Black and Gold are prepared to host its first dual-match Feb. 3 against East Carolina.
During the UCF Invitational, Jenna Doerfler went a combined 5-1 highlighted by a 3-0 doubles mark with Courtney Griffith. Doerfler leads the team with six singles victories in 2011-12, followed by Taylor Dubins and Alexis Rodriguez who each have five.
No. 17 Florida State owns its second-highest ranking in school history, yet does not have a singles player or a doubles team in the Campbell's ITA Rankings. Meanwhile, UCF holds a perfect 16-0 record in the all-time series with Florida A&M.
