Yesterday was the first day of Nationals! Both cheer and dance made it to finals! KnightMoves performed their eclectic hip-hop routine and stunned the crowd with their break dance moves. It was definitely their best performance to date! I'm excited to watch them again tomorrow as they rock out at finals!

It was also a great day for the cheer team! After our warm-up, we headed out to the Wide World of Sports complex. There was a lot of talented teams in the room, but we kept our eyes and ears focused on ourselves. When it came time to perform, I felt a sense of serenity from my teammates. Everyone was composed and ready to treat this performance just like a regular day of practice. Like coach Gooch says, "When you step onto that mat, I don't want you to do any more or any less than usual." It's easy to anticipate skills when the music is blaring and the crowd is cheering, but it is crucial to focus on one skill at a time!

Although everyone was happy about our performance, we aren't letting it get to our heads. Yes, we made it to finals, but yesterday doesn't count. Today's routine stands alone. It's like the competition starts all over again.

After semis, assistant coach Brian Cartier drew for the final competition order. We are the 11th team to hit the floor out of 15. We go on after Ohio State and before the University of Kansas. Ironically, KnightMoves are also the 11th team to perform in the hip hop dance division AND coach James Kersey mentioned that UCF's 2003 National Championship team drew lucky number 11. Yes, I might sound a bit superstitious, but come on! I'm not going to ignore this!

Today is our last chance to nail the routine and earn our last sticker. We have labored relentlessly and put in hours of hard work and dedication. Armed in our blue collar hard hats and lunch pales, we are here to UKNIGHT and make our University proud! The ultimate satisfaction rests in our hands. With that said-Let's show em' UCF! GO KNIGHTS!
