ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF head volleyball coach Todd Dagenais will once again have an active summer as he was appointed head coach of the U.S. Women's Junior A2 Program earlier this week by USA Volleyball.
The fourth-year head coach is no stranger to working with USA Volleyball as he has spent many summers working with the national and junior national teams since 2000.
"I have always enjoyed working for USA Volleyball and they have given me this opportunity to continue helping them develop the future Olympians for our country," Dagenais said. "That is something that I take really seriously and have a lot of fun doing. It will be another great opportunity to work with some of the most talented junior volleyball players in the country. Hopefully we can get them that really good USA Volleyball experience."
Dagenais will prepare the A2 team prior to competing in the 2012 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships that will take place July 24-28 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
At the 2011 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships, Dagenais directed the USA Women's Junior A2 Team to the bronze medal of the Women's Junior Championship Division. Adding to his High Performance coaching accomplishments, Dagenais was the head coach for the 2007 USA White Select National Team that won the silver medal at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships.
Dagenais was also part of the U.S. Volleyball Women's National Team coaching delegation to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He also spent time as a volunteer assistant coach with the U.S. Women's National Team where he joined the team on domestic and foreign tours. Since his involvement in the 2004 Olympics, Dagenais has continued his work with USA volleyball as a lead court coach and director of USA High Performance tryouts.
Under Dagenais' guidance in 2011, UCF completed its best season since 2003 after amassing a 20-11 record and a program-high 12 victories in Conference USA. Four players earned postseason C-USA awards, including Angelica Crump (Atlanta, Ga.) and Rachel Vukson (Oakville, Ontario) who became just the second and third student-athletes in program history to earn AVCA Honorable Mention All-America status.
