ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) -- Standout guard Briahanna Jackson, of IMG Basketball Academy, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the UCF women's basketball team in the 2012-13 season. Jackson graduated from Freedom High School in 2011 before earning admittance to the IMG Basketball Academy for 2011-12.
"We are extremely excited that Briahanna Jackson has decided to join the UCF Knight family," Head coach Joi Williams said. "She will come in with a tremendous skill set, and our staff is looking forward to helping her polish her skills even more. She's a very talented ball handler who makes everyone around her better, and she has the ability to score in a variety of ways. Her versatility and athleticism will allow us to play her at any position on the perimeter. More importantly, Briahanna is a great person and will bring a lot of competitiveness and toughness to our basketball team."
During her sophomore year at Lecanto High School, Jackson averaged 21 points and 4.4 steals per game to lead the team to a 21-2 mark. The following year, she averaged 18.6 points and 5.5 steals per game while leading Lecanto to its first undefeated record in school history.
Jackson did not play basketball her senior year, but she did serve as starting quarterback and safety for Freedom High's flag football team and guided Freedom to a 10-1 record and District Runner-Up distinction. Her 1,023 rushing yards and 18 rushing scores broke school records, and she also added 1,289 passing yards and another 18 passing touchdowns.
On defense, Jackson became the first Patriot to ever have 23 interceptions in a season and also added 26 flag pulls. She was named to the All-Western Conference National Division first team for her efforts.
