ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF women's basketball senior guard Aisha Patrick picked up the Knights' first weekly honor of the season by being named College Sports Madness' Conference USA Basketball Player of the Week, the website announced Monday afternoon.
Patrick was one of nine student-athletes selected to represent the high-major conferences around the country after producing her third double-double of the season on Sunday in a win against Virginia Tech. Patrick's game-high 13 points and 13 rebounds helped UCF earn its first win over an ACC opponent in 25 years.
The Rockledge, Fla., native played a team-high 39 minutes in a defensive effort that limited the Hokies to 32 points - the lowest offensive production of any UCF opponent since 1984. Patrick currently leads the Knights in points with an average of 15.3 per game and is second on the team for rebounding with 8.6 per game.
UCF (5-5) will face its biggest challenge of the season thus far when the Knights go up against No. 3 Notre Dame (10-1) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. eastern. Live stats are available by clicking this and as always, an IMG Sports Network radio broadcast of the game is available through UCFAthletics.com.
