ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After helping the UCF men's basketball team to two wins, including a comeback victory over No. 4 UConn, at the Battle 4 Atlantis, junior forward Keith Clanton (Orlando, Fla.) was selected as the Conference USA Player of the Week Monday. Clanton averaged 20.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in three games in the Bahamas, and guided the Knights to an impressive second-place finish at the eight-team event.

He opened the event by matching a career high with 28 points and added 14 rebounds, three blocks and two steals in a win over an unbeaten College of Charleston squad that had just defeated Clemson. Clanton followed that performance with 20 points and six rebounds as the Knights rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit to top No. 4 UConn.

He shot 4-of-5 from deep against the Huskies. The UCF victory snapped a 16-game winning streak for the defending national champions. The win over a top-25 opponent was just the third in school history for UCF.

Clanton averaged 36.0 minutes per game at the tournament. He shot 51.1 percent from the field and made 7-of-13 (53.8) percent of his attempts from 3-point range.

The C-USA Player of the Week award is the second career weekly honor for the former Orlando Christian Prep star.

Clanton, who was named to the Preseason All-C-USA First Team, leads UCF in scoring at 18.2 points per game and on the glass with 9.0 rebounds a contest.

Clanton and the Knights will return to action on Saturday, hosting Hartford at 5 p.m. at the UCF Arena. Season tickets are still available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com.
