ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team rolled past Florida A&M in its home opener on Friday night, 67-51, for the Knights' first win of the season. All nine Knights who played scored and grabbed at least one rebound.

Junior guard Gevenia Carter led the Knights with a game-high 21 points - just one point shy of her career high - on an 8-of-10 shooting performance.

Senior guard Aisha Patrick recorded the ninth double-double of her career and the first of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds while sophomore forward Erika Jones posted the first double-double of her career with a career-high 13 points and 13 rebounds.

After a neck-in-neck first half in which there were four lead changes and four tied scores, UCF gained some ground midway through the second half on an 11-2 run sparked by a three-pointer from freshman Bryeasha Blair. UCF never dipped below a single-digit lead again as Jones capped the night with a layup from an assist by freshman Meghan Keough.

Prior to tipoff, a moment of silence was held for the loss of Oklahoma State women's basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant Miranda Serna, who were killed in a plane crash on Thursday, as well as the loss of FAMU basketball player Shannon Washington.

A special ceremony was also conducted for the unveiling of the 2011 Conference USA Championship banner, which now hangs in the rafters of the UCF Arena. Former players Jelisa Caldwell, D'Nay Daniels, Leah Paige, Angelica Mealing and Chelsie Wiley were recognized along with the Knights on the court.

UCF continues its nine-game homestand on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Mercer. Tickets for purchase are available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com.
