ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Although his team suffered a loss Monday evening, UCF head coach Donnie Jones sees the Knights' contest at No. 24 Florida State as a learning experience for his squad. The Knights were facing a big, veteran team, and now as a result of playing the Seminoles, UCF should be better prepared for the rest of its non-conference schedule.

The Seminoles limited the Knights to just 30.5 percent shooting during their 73-50 victory. Jones believes that the game will help the Knights, who are utilizing several new players in their rotation, show what it takes to compete on a high level.

"That is why you play games like this," Jones said. "This will be a learning experience for our guys. Hopefully playing against a team like Florida State will help later on. We won't be facing too many teams with the size, length and athleticism of Florida State."

UCF and the Seminoles were meeting for the first time since 1988.

Florida State advanced to the Sweet 16 last year and last month, was picked to finish third behind Duke and North Carolina in the ACC preseason poll.

The Knights will return to action Friday, hosting High Point at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena. High Point nearly pulled a big upset Monday. The Panthers fell 67-65 at Purdue.
