Second Annual Hooters Hot Win Challenge
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Ready, set, EAT! A packed IOA Plaza filled with students, alumni and other fans flocked to watch the UCF Athletics' second-annual Hooters Hot Wing Challenge.
Ryan Garrett and Steven Siverski were the winners of last year's competition and they made sure they were there to defend their title this year.
"We love to eat," Siverski said. "Nothing is really going to stop us from winning again."
The active Phi Delta Theta members looked extremely confident about this year's contest.
"Garrett called me and asked me if I wanted to team up again and I said there was no way I would miss it," Siverski said.
Sixty wings and a lot of noise later, Garrett and Siverski once again emerged victorious, devouring the wings in less than 20 minutes. This time, however, they had the help of a fellow Phi Delta Theta brother and Gracie Berlin, member of Delta Delta Delta.
"It felt great to be the only girl," Berlin said. "I showed all these guys that we girls can eat!"
This year's contest consisted of the first team who was done eating 60 hot wings, courtesy of Hooters in Waterford Lakes. Each team was made up of four contestants, one of them being a girl.
"Once again, it felt great to win," Siverski said. "We knew from the beginning they would win."
Since it is his last semester at UCF, Garrett is saddened to know he won't be able to participate next year as a student. Siverski, however, is ready to come back next year and defend his title for the third time.
"If there were leftover wings, I could eat them right now," a jokingly Siverski said.
UCF Athletics' second-annual Hooters Hot Wing Challenge was open to everyone and it happens once a year at the IOA Plaza located by the Bright House Networks Stadium.

Students Pack the Bright House
It was another huge turnout for the UCF student body Thursday night at Bright House Networks Stadium. But it wasn't only UCF fans that packed the south end zone. Surrounding area college students were able to take advantage of the Thursday evening fun with free admission with their student IDs. With the total attendance of 36,712, the enormous student body showing should pat themselves on the back for enhancing the raucous atmosphere.
Let It Fly
Sophomore quarterback Jeff Godfrey capped off his fourth 200-yard passing game of the 2011 season Thursday night, totaling 226 yards through the air on 16 completions. The Miami native has now doubled his 2010 season total for 200-yard games and passed for his fourth touchdown of 2011 with a first-quarter 28-yard strike to redshirt freshman J.J. Worton.
Speedy Making Hay
For the third-straight game, UCF's offense marched right down the field for a quick touchdown. The Knights received excellent field position in large part due to the return abilities of freshman burner Rannell Hall. The Miami native has been quite the spark plug for UCF's offense as seven of his first eight career returns yielded UCF touchdown drives. The talented rookie racked up 148 yards on five kick returns, including his 48-yard burst to open the game.
Sure Hands J.J.
Redshirt freshman J.J. Worton had a banner night with a career-high 87 receiving yards on four grabs, topping his previous best 53 yards in the season opener against Charleston Southern on Sept. 3. He recorded a career-long reception with his 41-yard catch at the 5-yard line in the fourth quarter. Worton's previous career long was 28 yards.
Well Below Average
UCF held Tulsa to 24 points - its lowest point total in a Conference USA game since the Golden Hurricane's 28-25 win at Houston on Nov. 13, 2010. Tulsa entered Thursday's game averaging 31.6 points per game, which ranks third in the conference.
Forcing the Point
Senior middle linebacker Josh Linam forced his second fumble of the season with a pop on Tulsa running back Trey Watts as the Golden Hurricane was driving down the field before halftime. Linam has now doubled his career total in the category and finished the night with seven tackles, including one for loss.
TEAM NOTES
-UCF moves to 4-5 and 2-3 in Conference USA play while Tulsa improves to 6-3 and a perfect 5-0 in C-USA.
-UCF drops its first game at home since Nov. 13, 2010, when it fell to Southern Miss, 31-21.
-The Knights had not allowed an opposing offense to score a touchdown at Bright House Networks Stadium since Dec. 4, 2010 (SMU in the C-USA Championship Game). That streak, a total of 334 days, came to an end on Tulsa's second drive of the game Thursday.
-With Jeff Godfrey's 28-yard touchdown pass to J.J. Worton, it marked the third-straight game UCF found the endzone on its opening drive of the game.
-UCF entered the game ranked second in the nation with an average time of possession at 34:51. It finished Thursday with a 32:50-27:10 edge.
-The UCF defense held Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne to his second-lowest passing performance of the season, limiting the signal caller to 203 yards through the air. A stingy effort by the UCF secondary allowed Kinne to connect on only 15 passes, one more than his previous season-low against Boise State.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
-True freshman Rannell Hall had a 48-yard kick return to open the game. He actually ran it back to the Tulsa-2 however a holding penalty brought it back to the UCF-39. UCF worked around the penalty and still reached the endzone. On seven of Hall's first eight career kickoff returns this year, the Knights' offense eventually scored a touchdown.
-Hall also recorded his first-career catch, a four-yard reception in the third quarter, and finished the game with two grabs for 17 yards.
-Sophomore quarter Jeff Godfrey finished the game with his fourth 200-plus yard performance through the air as he completed 16-of-23 passes for 223 yards and a score. The talented sophomore also chipped in with a team-high 46 yards on the ground.
-Making sensational grabs all evening, freshman wideout J.J. Worton racked up a career-high 87 yards on four catches. In the first quarter, Worton notched his second receiving touchdown of the year on a 28-yard Godfrey strike and also hauled in the game's longest pass on a 41-yard bomb down the sideline in the fourth quarter.
-Junior wide receiver Quincy McDuffie recorded his longest-career reception in the second quarter, a 36-yard catch to put UCF on Tulsa's 18-yard line. McDuffie ended the game with a career-high 81 yards on four catches, and also chipped in with 22 rushing yards on the night.
-Redshirt freshman strong safety Clayton Geathers finished with a career-high 13 tackles, including eight solo to lead the UCF secondary.
-Senior defensive tackle Barry Snider recovered his first fumble at UCF when a Josh Linam hit on Tulsa running back Trey Watts popped up the ball into his hands for the game's only turnover right before the end of the first half.
