ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's rowing team kicks off the 2011 fall season when four varsity boats compete at the 19th-annual Chattanooga Head Race Saturday on the Tennessee River. The Knights will be taking on Alabama, Tennessee and other schools from around the country.
The regatta is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and is the first of four fall races for the Knights under fourth-year head coach Becky Cramer.
"Our training has been going very well and it is exciting to test ourselves on the race course early," Cramer said. "This regatta will be a good stepping stone as we measure our progress towards our goals for the fall and for the year."
The Varsity 8 "A" and "B" boats will be the first to race at 9 a.m. in the Collegiate 8+race. Following, will be the Varsity 4 "A" and "B" boats at 3:20 racing in the Collegiate 4+.
This will be the first of two trips to Chattanooga for the Black and Gold squad who are scheduled to travel back in November for the Head of the Hooch event.
