ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With three meets under its belt, the UCF cross country team will look to race past last year's 10th-place finish at the 16th Annual Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic. The 5K race will take place Saturday in Lake Buena Vista at 5:00 p.m.

UCF is one of 14 Florida schools participating this Saturday. Other schools include: Florida Southern, Tampa, Florida Gulf Coast, Webber and Warner.

"I'm excited to see what we'll do," UCF cross country coach Paul Brown said. "It's local, so we'll have a lot more support. We ran decently at it last year and I'm expecting us to run better than we did last year. It's a good course. Good competition, good field. It's a good meet."

The Knights have had a week off since their last meet and have strived to improve as the Conference USA Championships approach at the end of the month.

"This meet this weekend is going to be a good opportunity for them to show me who wants to travel to the conference meet. I've been telling them it's up for grabs and no spot is secure," Brown said.

Eight runners from UCF will compete in the Conference USA Championships on Oct. 31. The next test will be Oct. 14 when the Knights will host the UCF Black and Gold Challenge.
