ORLANDO, Fla. - (UCFAthletics.com) After an impressive beginning to the 2011 fall season, the UCF women's tennis team hope to continue its strong start in the C.L. Varner Memorial Invitational this weekend. Rollins College will be hosting the event Friday-Sunday.

The Knights will face such teams as Florida Tech, Nova Southeastern, Rollins, Florida Southern and Bethune-Cookman.

The Knights competed in the annual UCF Quad Tournament Sept. 23-25, posting impressive results in both singles and doubles play. Alexis Rodriguez placed fifth overall in the tournament in singles with a 2-1 record. In doubles, Andrea Yacaman and Taylor Dubins teamed up to post a 2-0 record during the weekend, finishing third overall. As a team, the Knights finished with a 16-10 record in their first tournament of 2011.

The last time UCF played in the C.L. Varner Memorial Invitational was in 2008. The Knights dominated the invitational, with current seniors Yacaman and Rodriguez leading the way for the Black and Gold. Rodriguez reached the Flight B semifinals as a freshman, while Yacaman partnered with Elvira Serrot to win the Flight A doubles championship 8-5 over Florida Southern.
