Full Court Press: Women's Basketball Q&A

Oct. 5, 2011

As time creeps closer to the start of basketball season, members of the women's team are taking a break from their busy schedules to provide a glimpse into their lives. In this Q&A installment, senior forward Racine Davis talks about the sound she hates and who inspires her.

What are you most excited about now that you're a senior?
Taking on more responsibilities, just helping the freshmen come along. Seeing our team develop and do well this year.

What is your favorite spot on campus?
My room. And the reflection pond. It's a great place to go and relax. I don't get to do much of that.

Who inspires you?
Coach Williams. She is very strong and driven and I aspire to be someone like that.

What noise or sound do you hate?
Pen clicking. Also, when you chew your food with your mouth open.

What was the last concert you went to?
Ludacris. It was awesome. He played all of the oldies and some of the newbies. LMFAO was there as well. That was pretty fun.

If you won $1 million, how would you spend it?
I would give some to my family. I would give some to charity - breast cancer research. I know a lot of people who suffer from that so that's pretty dear to my heart. I would put the rest in savings.

Where did you inherit your height from?
My mom. She's about 5'10" and her family are generally 6-foot and taller.

You have four brothers and sisters. Are they tall too?
Actually, my oldest sister is 5'5". My 20-year-old brother is 5'10" and then I have a 13-year-old brother and an 8-year-old sister so they aren't done growing yet. My baby sister is going to be tall. She's already half my sister's height.

So how did being taller than your older sister work out for you while you were growing up?
I think it was God punishing my sister because she was so mean. We are only two years apart so she'd always try to tell me what to do and I would say, 'You're only two years older than me. There's no way that's going down.' I'm a gentle giant type, but I have the intimidation factor going for me.

The reigning Conference USA championship women's basketball team is slated to play 18 home games, tipping off with Florida A&M on Nov. 18. UCF will also welcome Hartford, Florida Gulf Coast, Virginia Tech and Florida State just before the New Year.
