SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The UCF women's golf team, led by freshman Monifa Sealy (Glencoe, Trinidad and Tobago), finished the first round of the Alamo Invitational in a tie for fifth after shooting a 6-over 297. Sealy paced the Knights with a career-best 3-under 69 on the Briggs Ranch Golf Course, and is in a tie for first individually with Fabiola Arriaga of host UT San Antonio.
Sealy wasn't the only freshman to have a stellar round for the Knights as Robyn Doig (Seaforth, Ontario) carded her first-career under par round with a 1-under 71 to finish the first round in a tie for fourth. The two top rookies combined for nine birdies on Sunday.
Sophomore Kaityln Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) sits in a tie for 41st after a +4 76. Rounding out the lineup for the Knights was freshman Katie Mitchell (+6 78) and junior Carolin Pinegger (+7 79).
Individually for the Knights, Jordan Hage (Winter Park, Fla.) capped off the day in 77th.
The Knights will tee off in round two beginning at 10:10 a.m. EDT.
