O'Leary's opening statement...

"It was a good win. All three phases went out and executed, finally made some plays on offense, defense and special teams. I thought we covered well and got a couple of returns, so we're getting better in those areas. A good total team effort and (we) got a chance to play a lot of kids tonight, which is important because of the short week with Tulsa coming here Thursday night."

O'Leary on Jeff Godfrey's play...

"I think he was a lot more decisive and a lot more aggressive in what he was doing. He finally ran like he has been running in the past year. This is the first game of the year where I saw him run like I expected him to run. He made some throws, he overthrew some but he's making plays and that's what a quarterback is supposed to do."

O'Leary on the importance of scoring early to take away Memphis' confidence built from last week...

"Well we're playing at home and you don't want to give them any fresh air as far as confidence from last week's game. Now we have a four game season and we have to continue to improve to reach what we want to do goal wise. I thought we executed well."

O'Leary on the play of Memphis' quarterback...

"I've watched past films and their quarterback has done a good job with making guys miss and he's pretty good at avoiding the rush. I thought we corralled him pretty good and forced to make some throws he didn't want to."

O'Leary on the play by the secondary...

"We're running out of corners. Right now we only have a freshman and three freshmen behind him except for Josh Robinson. I don't worry about the coverage as much as I worry about the rush. I don't care who you have in the secondary, if you don't have a good rush, you're not going to be a good cover team. They both go hand-in-hand. I thought we got a little more heat on the quarterback than we had in the past games. But we need to keep growing with that, and don't be satisfied with one win. We have a big game coming up Thursday night and we need to go out there and play good football."

O'Leary on the play by freshman CB Brandon Alexander...

"I'll tell you for a freshman walk on, the kid's not even on scholarship, I'm surprised his parents haven't called me. He went out and did a pretty good job as far as covering. He has to get stronger at the point of attack but he has good feet, vision and does a lot of good things with his hands."
