ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - It's been three weeks since the UCF women's golf team has seen tournament action, but the team is back and ready to finish its fall season at the Alamo Invitational beginning Sunday. The Knights are no stranger to the tournament hosted by University of Texas at San Antonio, and are looking to finish their fall season strong on the par 72 course totaling 6,272 yards. The tournament runs Sunday through Tuesday at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.
The Knights, at No.44, are ranked for the first time in the 2011 season after taking home first place in their last tournament at the Lady Northern Invitational. Freshman Katie Mitchell led the team to secure a win and was named C-USA player of the week after her third-consecutive finish in the top 20.
According to the Golf Week rankings the other squads that UCF will face this weekend in the top-50 include Texas A&M, ranked highest at No.17, Texas Tech (No.22), Baylor (No.27), TCU (No.34) and Kentucky (No.35).
Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) will be playing at No. 1 for her second-consecutive tournament this fall. Playing at No. 2 is junior Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany), at No. 3 freshman Monifa Sealy (Glencoe, Trinidad & Tobago), at No. 4 Mitchell (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) and rounding out the lineup for the Knights at No. 5 is freshman Robyn Doig (Seaforth, Ontario). Jordyn Hage (Winter Park, Fla.) will be playing as an individual for the Knights.
