WINDERMERE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 15 UCF men's golf team bounced back in a big way on Monday during the second round of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational at Isleworth Golf & Country Club. The Knights recorded the second-best team score of the day with a 4-over 292 to leap from a tie for 13th into a tie for seventh. The Knights were able to pick up four overall shots on the leaders as they moved up the leaderboard.

Sophomore Jose Joia surged up the individual standings with a 3-under 69. Joia tied for the lowest overall round of the day and will enter the final round in the top-5 at even par for the tournament. He was followed by classmate Ricardo Gouveia who carded his second straight 1-over 73 to finish the day tied for 11th at 2-over.

Senior Brad Schneider tallied a 2-over 74 and sits tied for 23rd at 5-over in the 75 player field. In total, all five players for the Knights improved their spots in the overall standings on Monday.

No. 1 Texas sits in first place at 8-under. The Longhorns currently have three of the top five scorers on the individual leaderboard. Texas is led by two-time U.S. Junior Amateur champion, Jordan Speith, who leads all golfers at 6-under through two rounds.

The Isleworth Collegiate Invitational is in its eighth year, and the Black and Gold along with Oklahoma State are the only two schools which have participated in one of the most prestigious events on the college golf calendar every season.

UCF and Texas Tech are serving as hosts for the 2011 Isleworth Collegiate Invitational, and the final round will get underway Tuesday at 8 a.m. with the Knights teeing off during the opening group. The action can be followed live at www.golfstat.com.
