GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF's women's tennis program got back to work Saturday with day two of the 2011 USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Women's Tennis Championships. Four Knights were in action at the University of Florida's Ring Tennis Complex.
In the first round of the consolation singles draw, Alexis Rodriguez blew by Florida A&M's Kathline Durden, 6-0, 6-0, to advance. However FIU's Lisa Johnson topped Rodriguez in the second round, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Another Knight picked up a victory in the first round as Jenna Doerfler surrendered only three games in her 6-1, 6-2 win against Morgan Bechtel of Florida Gulf Coast. Doerfler then also split sets in the second round only to fall to Georgia Tech's Jasmine Minor, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
The Black and Gold will have two weeks on the practice courts before wrapping up the fall season at the USF Fall Tennis Classic Nov. 4-6.
