ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With an outstanding performance leading the UCF women's golf team to the Lady Northern Invitational tournament title at French Lick Resort in Indiana, freshman Katie Mitchell has been named the Bright House Student-Athlete of the Week.
Mitchell recorded her first under-par round (-1) of the year and finished second overall at the tournament, shooting a +4 217.
On the final day, the freshman's even-par (71) round helped UCF erase a 15-stroke Ohio State lead to beat five top-50 schools, including the Buckeyes and Illinois.
This is her second award in as many weeks after she was named the Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week last Tuesday. The Fernandina Beach native has three-consecutive top-20 finishes to begin her career as a Knight.
UCF will travel to San Antonio, Texas on Oct. 30 for the Alamo Invitational in its final tournament of the fall.
