LEXINGTON, Ky. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team continued to battle the blustery conditions on the second day of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational to enter the club house with the lead once again at the University Club of Kentucky. The Knights shot a +17 305 on the Big Blue Course, and finished four shots better than second-place Kentucky.

Through two rounds, UCF has totaled 616 strokes and leads the field by five shots.

"Once again it was another total team effort out there today," head coach Courtney Trimble said. "The conditions were tough again today and it was much colder, but the girls did a great job of staying in the present and taking it one shot at a time."

Leading the Knights to a solid round Saturday was sophomore Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) who carded +4 76, , making her the individual leader in the tournament by a stroke. After holing in two birdies in the first round, Price matched the effort with two one-unders on the fifth and 16th holes.

"Kaitlyn, as well as the other girls, just stayed patient out there," Trimble said. "There were some shots left out there, but I am proud of them for how they performed on such a difficult course."

Freshman Katie Mitchell matched her first-day performance with another 5-over 77. The Fernandina Beach native will enter the final round tied for sixth.

Both junior Carolin Pinegger and freshman Monifa Sealy moved up the leaderboard Saturday after shooting lower rounds for the Knights. Pinegger carded a five-over 77, and is tied for 12th place, while Sealy turned in the round of the day for UCF after shooting a +3 75, 11 shots better than Friday. Junior Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile) rounded out the lineup after a +13 85.

Individually for the Knights, freshman Heather Proctor (Ocala, Fla.) continues to impress in her first collegiate tournament, shooting a +4 76. Fellow rookie Robyn Doig (Seaforth, Ontario) carded an 86.

UCF will be aiming for its first tournament win since Feb. 2010 when it takes to the Big Blue Course one last time on Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

"To come away with the win, it will take another round of staying patient and taking it one hole at a time," Trimble added. "We had great practices before heading here, and I felt this was one of the more prepared team before we started play."
