UKNIGHT in PINK
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - It was a rainy day in Bright House Networks Stadium but that didn't stop fans from showing up and showing their support. An interesting combination of black, gold, and pink lined the stadium. Fans came out not only showing their support for the Knights, but also in full support of Breast Cancer month.

Almost 29 years ago, Nancy G. Brinker made her sister a promise that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer. As founder and CEO, Brinker has formed the Susan G. Komen Foundation that has grown into the world's largest grassroots network for breast cancer research.

The Susan G. Komen foundation along with the athletics department created a UKNIGHT in PINK campaign. This UKNIGHT in Pink campaign has received support from all of UCF's 15 sports teams. During Saturday night's game against Marshall, special activities such as the PINK PATCH tailgate party with the athletics department and a halftime tribute show with the Marching Knights honoring cancer survivors and their families took place.

Even though October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, Susan G. Komen's goal here in Central Florida is to bring that awareness throughout the entire year. Breast cancer doesn't just happen in the month of October. UCF also made the effort during media timeouts to educate fans by placing facts about breast cancer awareness on the jumbo-tron.

Over 140 affiliates all over the world have joined this promise. Knight fans are just one small part of a worldwide effort to help end this terrible disease against women. Throughout the entire month of October, Knights will be joining Susan G. Komen in the effort to promote breast cancer awareness.
