ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF students are able to register online at KnightTickets.com, starting at midnight, to clear their ID card for admission to the upcoming Conference USA showdown vs. Marshall at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Bright House Networks Stadium. Online Ticket Registration will continue through next week.
The league-opener for the Knights has been dubbed UKNIGHT in PINK, and will serve to bring much-needed awareness to breast cancer research. Through UKNIGHT in PINK, UCF Athletics has partnered with Florida Hospital and the Central Florida affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in support of breast cancer awareness as well as creating greater awareness about the life-saving benefits of annual mammograms and early detection. Fans are encouraged to add some PINK to their Black and Gold.
Sponsored by Florida Hospital, the game is UCF's first Conference USA contest of the 2011 season. Marshall (1-3) already boasts a 1-0 record in the league standings thanks to a victory over Southern Miss, however, the Knights (2-2) have won six-straight meetings with the Thundering Herd and are the defending C-USA champions.
The 2011 Central Florida Race for the Cure at Bright House Networks Stadium Oct. 16 is a part of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series, the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world. The event raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, while celebrating breast cancer survivorship and honoring those who have lost their battle with the disease. Since its inception in 1983, the Komen Race for the Cure series has grown from one local Race with 800 participants in Dallas to a global series of more than 140 Races with more than 1.6 million people participating on four continents.
NOTE: On Oct. 10 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and Oct. 11 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.), Florida Hospital will be at the UCF FAIRWINDS Alumni Center offering mobile digital mammography screenings. To schedule an appointment contact Monica Lowry, Community Outreach Coordinator - Mammography, at Monica.Lowry@flhosp.org or (407) 303-1471.
