ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After opening its fall tournament season last weekend in Gainesville, the UCF men's tennis team will return to action Friday when play begins at the State of Florida Championships in Tampa. The three-day event will be held on the USF campus.
Seven teams from the Sunshine State will be competing in the event: Florida Gulf Coast, Florida State, Florida Atlantic, North Florida, UCF, USF and Miami.
Last week, the Knights faced players from USF, Florida and Florida Atlantic at the Gator Invitational.
Junior Mario Samson (Miami, Fla.) picked up a pair of singles wins at the event. UCF doubles tandem Fransesc Aulina (Barcelona, Spain) and Matthew Gladstone (Surfside, Fla.) also won two matches.
This weekend's tournament is one of five for the Knights this fall.
