OWASSO, Okla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The first tournament of the 2011 fall season is in the books for the UCF women's golf team. The Knights finished 10th overall in the Dale McNamara Invitational from The Patriot Golf Club, shooting 313 in the final day of the three-round event.
Oklahoma State won the team title after overcoming a 21-shot lead by Arizona State heading into the final round.
The Knights recorded a top-20 finish in the tournament from freshman Katie Mitchell (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) who made her collegiate debut this week with a 8-over. The rookie was able to card three birdies in her final round of play.
Junior Carolin Pinegger wrapped up her tournament tied for 37th after shooting a 78 on Wednesday. The Germany native finished the week with a +14 230.
Junior Valentina Fontaine (+19), sophomore Kaitlyn Price (+24) and freshman Monifa Sealy (+16) also wrapped up their first tournament of the season for the Knights.
UCF will be back in action starting Sept. 30 as it heads to Lexington, Ky., for the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational.
