ORLANDO, Fla. (UCF Athletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team will open the fall portion of its 2011-12 schedule this Friday at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville. Florida will be hosting the event and has invited some of the Southeast's most elite programs to play. The Knights will be traveling with their complete roster as the invitational provides a great opportunity for new members of the team to become acclimated.
While no freshmen were brought on the team this year, the Knights have three transfer students who are new to the roster. Juan Bolona and Francesc Aulina are transfers from ACC programs, and Jorge Blasco is a transfer from Spain.
For returning Knights on the roster like seniors Joe Delinks and Eugene Dolgovykh, the invitational gives them a chance to showcase improvements made in the off-season, as well as the opportunity to get back on the court for competitive matches.
"We are looking forward to heading up to Gainesville and competing," UCF head coach Bobby Cashman said. "Our guys are excited about the fall season and we are striving to get better each and every day."
The Knights will compete in an additional four tournaments this fall and will finish their schedule with the UCF Invitational Nov. 4-6.
