OWASSO, Okla. - After putting together the third-best round of the day, the UCF women's golf team moved into eighth place at the Dale McNamara Invitational at The Patriot Gold Club Tuesday. The squad carded a 7-over 295 on the afternoon, 13 shots better then its first-day performance.
Leading the way for the Knights in the second-of-three rounds was freshman Monifa Sealy who was able to stay even-par (72) throughout the 18 holes. The Trinidad and Tobago native started the round tied for 42nd overall and ended the afternoon in a tie for 21st (+6).
Four out of the five players on the course for UCF shot lower scores than their previous rounds, including fellow rookie Katie Mitchell (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) (+2), who after starting the day on the 10th hole, finished the front nine at 2-under. She jumped up four places in the individual standings, and currently sits in a tie for 15th.
Both junior Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) and sophomore Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) wrapped up the afternoon shooting two and three-over, respectively.
With Arizona State the only team under par, the Knights are only 10 shots behind second-place Oklahoma State.
The third and final round begins at 9:40 a.m. CDT as junior Valentina Fontaine (+13) (Santiago, Chile) will get things started for the Knights.
