ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team heads to Tulsa, Okla., to open the 2011 season in the Dale McNamara Invitational. The three-day affair begins on Monday and lasts through Wednesday. The 54-hole tournament hosted by Tulsa will be played at the Patriot Golf Club in Owasso.
The Knights are one of 15 teams competing on the par 72 course totaling 6,450 yards.
According to the Golfweek Sagarin rankings, the invitational will feature four of the top-50 teams in the nation, including Arizona State (No. 11) Iowa State (No. 21) Northwestern (No. 37) and Tulsa (No. 46). This will be UCF's first appearance at this tournament.
Teeing up for the Knights in the season opener are returners Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany), Valentina Fontaine (Santiago, Chile), and Kaitlyn Price (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.). Freshmen Monifa Sealy (Glencoe, Trinidad and Tobago) and Katie Mitchell (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) will be making their collegiate debuts.
