ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The 2011 UCF cross country team will begin its season with the UT Early Bird Classic at Tampa's Dover Trails this Friday at 6 p.m. This is the first of five regular-season meets for the Knights in preparation for the Conference USA Championships held in Houston on Oct. 31.
The meet will consist of seven runners making their debut for UCF: sophomore Jessica Pachay and freshmen Ali Brandehoff, Emmy Brandehoff, Cody Castillo, Teresa Huff, Jamie Perzanowski and Amelia Williams. The two returning runners competing this Friday are sophomores Ne'Ausha Logan and Erica Winston. The Knights are led by head coach Caryl Smith Gilbert and assistant coach Paul Brown.
Teams attending the meet on Friday evening include: USF, Florida Southern, Flagler, Valdosta State and host Tampa.
Following the UT Early Bird Classic, the Knights will head to the USF Invitational in Tampa next Friday. The team will then have two more meets before returning home for the Black & Gold Challenge on Oct. 14.
