ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Thanks to a victory during qualifying this week, sophomore Hojin Kang (Lake Mary, Fla.) of the UCF men's golf team has earned a spot in the prestigious U.S. Amateur Championship. Kang will compete at Erin Hills in Erin, Wis., from Aug. 22-28, with some of the top golfers in the country.
On Monday, Kang fired a pair of 67s to take medalist honors during qualifying at the Black Bear Golf Club in Eustis.
Kang appeared in three tournaments for the Knights as a freshman in 2010-11. He made his college debut at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind., and also played in the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville and the UCF Rio Pinar Invitational in Orlando.
UCF claimed its third-straight Conference USA Championship title this past season, and participated in the NCAA Regionals for the fifth-consecutive year.
