ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - News and notes from the UCF football team for Saturday, Aug. 6. The Knights will be practicing from 3:20-5:30 p.m. from Aug. 6-17 leading up to the UCF Countdown to Kickoff Luncheon Aug. 18.
News
-With UCF's media day completed, the focus is back on the practice fields where the Knights return today at 3:20 p.m. The practice will be the first with shoulder pads.
-The quarterbacks were showing off their arms during the second practice of camp Friday morning, highlighted by a perfect ball deep down the right sideline from redshirt freshman Blake Bortles to fellow redshirt freshman Josh Reese.
-One of the top quotes from media day: "How our schedule is set up for this season, I think we really can do it. We know we believe in ourselves. Once all of us get our chemistry, get on the same page, we know what we can do out there on the field." - Senior WR A.J. Guyton discussing UCF being a potential BCS buster.

-A member of four preseason watch lists, including the Bronko Nagurski Trophy list for the top defensive player.
-Also voted onto the C-USA Preseason Team.
-Totaled 59 tackles in 2010 and had two interceptions as opposing quarterbacks tried staying away from throwing in his direction.
-Collected six interceptions as a freshman, and now ranks sixth all-time at UCF with eight overall.
-After not returning a punt in 2009, he had 20 returns in 2010 for 304 yards. His 15.20 average ranked ninth in the nation.
Stat of the Day
-UCF's special teams were so dominant last year, that the longest punt return by any opposing player was 18 yards (Georgia's A.J. Green).
What to Look For
-Following one more day of shoulder pads Sunday, the Knights will don full pads during Monday's practice.
-The next UKNIGHT and Get "THE PATCH" Party will be on Thursday, Aug. 11, at Huey Magoo's in Winter Springs. The free event, from 6-8 p.m., will feature appearances from Knightro, the UCF spirit squad and a live remote from Power 95.3 FM.

Should UCF host the C-USA Championship Game for the fourth time in seven years, it would be played on Saturday, Dec. 3, and season ticket holders will receive the first shot at the best seats.
