ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - A veteran presence is key to a successful team in any sport and UCF men's soccer head coach Bryan Cunningham may have some of the best in the nation. College soccer expert Joe Mauceri has named seniors Kevan George (No. 7) and Warren Creavalle (No. 15) as two of the top upperclassmen in the nation on TopDrawerSoccer.com's "Joe's Big Board".
Every week Mauceri compiles a list of the Top 100 in a different category. This week, the list was the Top 100 men's college soccer seniors for the 2011 season. George earned the No. 7 spot, while Creavalle was ranked No. 15 in the nation.
UCF joins national powers North Carolina, Virginia and Louisville as the only teams to have multiple players ranked in the Top 15 of the list.
"It's a great honor for Kevan and Warren to be recognized for all their individual achievements," Cunningham said. "I am really looking forward to them having great seasons for our team this fall."
George, a team captain as a junior, is coming off a season in which he was named to the All-Conference USA First Team and a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region Third Team.
Creavalle joined George on the All-C-USA First Team as a junior. In just his first season with the Knights, Creavalle also became the program's first All-American in more than a decade as he earned a spot on the NSCAA All-American Third Team. Like George, Creavalle was recognized by the NSCAA as well, earning a spot on the All-South Region First Team.
George and Creavalle highlight a solid returning core from last year's team which reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Knights will be back on the field when they begin the regular season at Jacksonville on Aug. 26 before returning home to take on UMass on Sept. 2 in the home opener.
