ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF's tennis courts will see plenty of action this season as the women's tennis team released its 2011-12 schedule Monday. The Knights open up with the UCF Quad Tournament Sept. 23-25, and will compete in a total of six events in the fall campaign.
When the spring schedule gets underway, the Black and Gold hosts its second quad tournament Jan. 14-16 before hitting the road to take on Florida State and Florida A&M Jan. 21-22, and visits Florida Feb. 1.
Sandwiched between those trips, UCF travels to Baylor for the prestigious ITA Kickoff Weekend Jan. 28-29. A total of 60 schools will play at 15 sites across the country, and the Knights will battle No. 6 Baylor in the first round before facing either UT Arlington or Wyoming the following day. The 15 schools that win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the Feb. 17-20 ITA National Team Indoor Championship at the Boar's Head Sports Club (hosted by the Univ. of Virginia).
The UCF Tennis Complex eventually will kick into high-gear as the Knights will play 11 of their next 12 matches at home, highlighted by a stretch from Feb. 22-April 4 where they do not leave campus. During that span, ranked teams such as No. 3 Duke and No. 17 Tennessee invade Orlando.
During dual-match play, UCF will take on a total of eight programs nationally ranked by the ITA at the end of the 2011 spring season.
The regular season is set to conclude at home April 14 vs. Florida Atlantic, setting up a trip to the Conference USA Championship April 19-22 in Memphis, Tenn.
