ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFathletics.com) - UCF men's soccer senior Warren Creavalle (Acworth, Ga.) has been named to the 2011 Men's MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer, awarded annually by the Missouri Athletic Club to the top male soccer athlete in the United States.
The award was created as a combination of honors from Robert Hermann, the president of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL), the Missouri Athletic Club and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The three organizations merged in 2002 to present the one award.
Voting for the MAC Hermann Trophy is conducted in late November where 15 semi-finalists will be reduced to three finalists. Those three will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, where a news conference will be held to announce the winner, followed by a banquet to honor the three finalists.
Last week, Creavalle was named to the All-Conference USA Preseason First Team as well as a College Soccer News 2011 Preseason All-American Second Team. As a junior in 2010, he earned All-C-USA First Team honors, was a third-team NSCAA All-American and first-team All-South Region selection. Earlier this month, Creavalle was also named the No. 15-ranked senior in the nation this season.
Creavalle ended last season with four goals and four assists for 12 points and proved to be one of the most dynamic and all-around players in the nation.
The Knights open the regular season Aug. 26 at Jacksonville before taking on the UMass in their home opener on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
