ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - News and notes from the UCF football team for Wednesday, Aug. 10. The Knights are set to practice from 9:20-11:30 a.m. today.
News
-UCF was back indoors for practice Tuesday due to rain covering the Orlando area.
-While inside Nicholson Fieldhouse, running back Brynn Harvey churned his powerful legs during goal-line situations and motored through the UCF defense on two occasions.
-Backup quarterback Blake Bortles hit Rob Calabrese with a deep ball after pressure forced the redshirt freshman to roll out towards the left sideline.
-Receiver J.J. Worton made another impressive snag, leaping up to grab a Bortles pass and while in the air, he took a huge hit from defensive back Jared Henry. However Worton somehow hung on when he crashed to the ground.
-When the first teamers faced off, middle linebacker Josh Linam ran back a 20-yard interception to the endzone, causing the defense to erupt in celebration.

-Started the final 12 games of 2010, leading the Knights to the C-USA title and a victory in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
-Was one of just three true freshmen to guide his team to a bowl victory a year ago (UCF's fourth opponent this season, BYU, was one of those schools as Jake Heaps helped the Cougars defeat UTEP in the New Mexico Bowl).
-Also the first true freshman quarterback in FBS history to lead his team to a win in a conference title game.
-Named the C-USA Freshman of the Year as well as a Freshman All-American.
-Finished his first year in Black and Gold by going 159-for-238 for 2,159 yards, a 66.8 completion percentage and a 154.31 efficiency rating. His 2,159 passing yards were the second-most by a UCF freshman QB (Ryan Schneider had 2,334 yards in 2000). -Set a UCF single-season quarterback record with 566 rushing yards, while also totaling 10 touchdowns on the ground.
Stat of the Day
-UCF converted 51.0 percent of its third-down situations last year, which ranked as the second-best percentage in school history.
What to Look For
-Thursday's practice is slated to begin at 3:20 p.m.
-A reminder that the Winter Springs' Huey Magoo's (160 Tuskawilla Rd.) will be the location for UCF's next PATCH Party. It will take place Thursday at 6 p.m.

Should UCF host the C-USA Championship Game for the fourth time in seven years, it would be played on Saturday, Dec. 3, and season ticket holders will receive the first shot at the best seats.
