ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Leading up to the first UCF practice Aug. 4, UCFAthletics.com will provide quick profiles on select Knights to help fans get ready for the 2011 campaign. Friday's featured players are Theo Goins, Darius Nall, Troy Davis, Adam Nissley, Billy Giovanetti and Quincy McDuffie.
#68 - Theo Goins
Offensive Lineman - 6-4/316 - Redshirt Junior
Houston, Texas/Hightower
-Appeared in 13 games on the O-line, starting seven including the Conference USA Championship Game victory vs. SMU.
-All seven of those starts came at left guard.
-En route to the 2009 C-USA All-Freshman Team, started the final five games of the year at right guard.
-Part of an offensive line in 2010 which paved the way towards 36 rushing touchdowns (UCF single-season record is 41), while also allowing just 20 sacks.
#53 - Darius Nall
Defensive End - 6-3/246 - Redshirt Senior
Douglasville, Ga./Chapel Hill
-Will be UCF's player representative for Conference USA Media Day July 31.
-Did not start during the season, but came off the bench in 13 games to tie Bruce Miller for the team-lead with 8.5 sacks, and also produced 14 quarterback hurries with 31 overall tackles.
-Named to the 2010 All-C-USA Second Team, and was the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week with nine tackles and two sacks at Buffalo. Later earned another C-USA weekly honor with 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble at Rice.
-Has 65-career tackles, 18.0 TFLs, three forced fumbles and 13.5 sacks in three years as a Knight.
-After being diagnosed with cancer in June 2008, underwent three surgeries, two weeks on an oxygen machine and six weeks of radiation treatment before being declared a cancer survivor on Nov. 24, 2008.
#58 - Troy Davis
Defensive Lineman - 6-2/256 - Junior
Lawrenceville, Ga./Berkmar
-Saw time in all 14 games, making starts at left tackle vs. Southern Miss, Tulane and Memphis.
-Collected 26 tackles in 2010, with 8.0 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Also had six pass break-ups and nine QB hurries.
-With UCF up on Georgia, 10-6, in the fourth quarter of the 2010 AutoZone Liberty Bowl, Bulldog quarterback Aaron Murray was faced with a 2nd-and-25 from his own 16-yard line. With less than six minutes to go, Davis combined with eventual NFL Draft Pick Bruce Miller for a seven-yard sack as Georgia would be forced to punt. It would be the second-to-last possession for Georgia as the Knights held on for the win.
-Posted 5.5 sacks in UCF's Spring Game.
#88 - Adam Nissley
Tight End - 6-6/267 - Redshirt Senior
Cumming, Ga./South Forsyth
-Started 12 of 14 games played, including the final eight games of the year.
-Finished with six receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown reception vs. Rice.
-In three seasons on the gridiron for the Knights, has 17 catches for 230 yards and a touchdown in 39 games.
-Has been working extra on his routes and technique for 2011.
-Split time at both tight end and right tackle as a redshirt freshman in 2008.
#32 - Billy Giovanetti
Fullback - 5-11/234 - Redshirt Junior
Winter Park, Fla./Bishop Moore
-Appeared in all 14 games in 2011, starting against UAB, East Carolina, Houston and Memphis.
-In 2009, saw time in 10 games with starts vs. Samford, Buffalo, Memphis and Miami.
-For his career, has one rushing attempt for two yards, and eight receptions for 52 yards, including a touchdown reception vs. UAB.
-Had only one offer out of high school, and that was from Wagner, and a major reason for that was his size. However head coach George O'Leary gave him the opportunity at UCF, and Giovanetti's hard work led to a scholarship.
-Grew up a UCF fan, as his father Bill was a member of the inaugural team in 1979 as a linebacker, and was inducted into the UCF Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000.
#14 - Quincy McDuffie
Wide Receiver/Kick Returner - 5-10/175 - Junior
Orlando, Fla./Edgewater
-Posted 13 receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns (South Dakota and Tulane).
-Ranked second in the nation by averaging 32.19 yards per kick return, and also was second with two returns for touchdowns.
-His efforts helped UCF rank first as a team in kickoff returns, averaging 27.78 yards per runback.
-Ran back the opening kickoff of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs. Georgia for six points, however it was called back due to a penalty. UCF ultimately defeated the Bulldogs, 10-6.
-In just two years as a Knight, has 66 kick returns for 1,813 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 27.5 yards per return. His 32.2-yard average in 2010 was a UCF single-season record.
